Our Pedigree Dexter show team have been out and about across the South West showing this Summer - here is how we got on!
After months of planning and lots of evenings packing up the kit and picnics, our summer show season has drawn to a close and what a season it’s been! Back in spring, we shared our plans to take our Pedigree Dexters (and ourselves!) on the road. Here is how we got on:
A Season of Success
Across eight one-day shows plus two multi-day events across Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Highlights included:
- 1 Breed Champion – at our final show of the season and a proud moment that made all the hard work worthwhile.
- 3 Reserve Breed Champions – for our eldest son's heifer proving the depth of quality in our team.
- 1 Champion Young Handler – watching the next generation step confidently into the ring was the biggest win of all with all three of our children showing taking part in Young Handler classes this year.
Show Days
Taking part in ten shows meant a lot of early starts, picnics in the cattle lines and evenings around the barbecue. Camping at the two larger shows turned them into mini-holidays, giving us time to swap stories with fellow exhibitors and soak up the buzz. We even had some of our wonderful guests who were staying at The Cottage Beyond visit Mid Devon and Dunster shows to watch us in action and immerse themselves in the best of British agriculture.
Gratitude & Looking Ahead
We couldn’t have done it without friends, fellow breeders and show organisers who made each event welcoming and well run. Most of all, thanks to our brilliant Dexters for taking everything in stride and also not forgetting the rest of Team TCB who ensured everything continued to run smoothly back at the farm.
Now, as Autumn arrives, our white coats and show halters have been packed away but we are already dreaming up next year's plans!
