Fancy a walk to the pub? Or a stroll for a coffee?

Good food is part of the pleasure of staying at Kittisford Barton. From cosy country pubs to village tea rooms, there are plenty of lovely spots nearby to eat, drink, and unwind. Whether you’re after a long lunch, a slice of cake, or a relaxed evening meal, here are a few of our favourite local places to try.

White Post Cafe One of the joys of a holiday is to allow yourself a break from cooking; treating yourself to brunch; or enjoying a relaxed coffee and cake. Luckily, there is no shortages of great places to discover when staying at one of our properties. Now that the good weather is here to stay, here are our recommendations for where to head and, as a bonus, they are all within walking, running or cycling distance at less than 2.5 miles away.

The Martlet Inn, Langford Budville

We may be slightly biased here as our farm supplies The Martlet with organic dexter beef, however, if you are looking for a pub which is full of charm, a warm welcome and great food then The Martlet is the place to go. It has simple, well-cooked food and a friendly, laid back feel. Cosy up to the fire on a cold day or enjoy the outdoor seating on a summer day. There are a couple of different footpath options to walk here so, if you like a side of adventure with your pub lunch, then grab one of our maps and head on up. The Martlet is also dog friendly so great if you’ve brought along yours.

The Globe at Appley

Our nearest pub which is in the village of Appley just a couple of miles away. It has a lovely, peaceful garden and a beautifully rustic building full of 500 years of character. Be sure to admire the thickness of the walls and the old brick floors. The food is good pub fare and there are often pizza nights on a Friday in the Spring and Summer! The Globe is dog friendly making this a perfect stop while exploring the local lanes and footpaths.

Stawley Village Shop and Tea Room

Not far from The Globe is Stawley Village Shop and Tea Room and is run by our wonderful local community. They stock a good range of groceries, fresh bread, local produce and organic veggies from Riverford. The tea room has Miles tea and coffee and a wide range of sandwiches, soups and home-made cakes (baked less than 500m from the shop!). Expect a warm welcome from the volunteers who have a wealth of information about the local area.

White Post, Langford Budville

Just up the road from The Martlet Inn is White Post Cafe. White Post is perfect if you are on the hunt for delicious brunch, freshly baked goods and a great cup of coffee. Again, it is dog friendly and also within walking distance of the farm (4km). White Post is a great spot for both a group of all adults or for a group with kids and allows you to sit inside or in the garden and there is a play structure tucked around the corner from the garden. There is a also a plant nursery alongside it and a couple of small independent shops making this place a real gem!

Within each property, we have included a map highlighting our recommended footpaths to each of these places. Feel free to take them along with you to navigate your way. Before heading off, we highly recommend making contact to ensure they have are open and have space especially for larger groups.
