Wellington has a Waitrose - but that's not all....check out our favourite local shops to explore in town!

Wellington having a Waitrose is clearly of benefit to the town, but there are many independent and smaller shops which are full of fabulous foods, gifts and last minute essentials. Below our are suggestions - but take a look for yourselves while you are here and I am sure you will find many more gems!

Ruxtons

Newly opened Ruxtons is a fabulous addition to Wellington; selling unique and quality produce including local sustainably grown 100% grass fed beef, lamb and goat and slow-grown pork and chicken it is a great place to stock up on meat.  In addition they stock many other delights, from ethicaly sourced grains and pulses to jams, chutnetys, sauces and milk and eggs.  One highlight of their store is their incredible ice cream selection and a cafe run by 'House Flavours Taunton' within their shop - serving teas, coffees, hot chocolates, milk shakes, mini-pancakes and waffle sticks! Delicious!

H T Perry & Son & Granddaughter

A family run hardware business who go above and beyond to find you the items that you need they are often a go-to for supplies for The Cottage Beyond.  Paint, cooking items, heatiers, fans, bulbs, batteries, electrics, they have it all!

The Cheese and Wine Shop and Delicatessen

This devine deli holds more than just cheese and wine! Chocolates, gifts, and many other delicious items.  If you need a last minuite gift then they you can create a hamper or find a unique selection of foods; they also have some delightful homewares; mugs, glasses, sophie allport kitchenware.  If you have an event coming up then you can request they create a 'celebration cheese cake' which is a brilliant statement piece to have at your party!

The Blue Pantry

Wellington's own Zero Waste, or 'fill your own' grocery shop is an absolute delight to visit. Able to purchase just the quantities required you can purchase most of your staples here, from flours, grains, nuts, seeds, pastas, rices, dried fruit, herbs and spices.  You can also take along your own containers (or purchase there) to pick up milk, eco-friendly soaps and tea and coffee.  They sell fresh bread and cakes and eggs too.  Well worth a visit!

Buy and Save

If you need something random in a hurry this is the place to look!  Filled to the brim with thousands of different products, I've ended up heading there for blank cards, raffle tickets, cosy socks, weighing scales, cleaning products, decorations and so many more items over the years - and they very rarely don't have what I am after - so, if you aren't sure if Wellington will have the product you need, between Buy and Save and Perry's hopefuly you will be sorted!

Olive and Rosy

A shop inspired by the delights of Italy, Olive and Rosy has two disticnt arears - the chamber of style, upstairs, containing Italian vintage and ethically sourced new clothing, jewellery anand the chamber of taste, downstairs.

The Emporium

The emporium is a wonderful building filled with over 50 unique shops and small makers.  Jewellery, homewares, soaps, paints, artwork, vintage and reclaimed furniture are all displayed beautifully - it is an absolute treasure trove of items and well worth an explore.

Alonside the unique independent shops mentioned here, Wellington has many more... an independent book shop, a newsagents, high street staples such as Boots, Superdrug, WH Smith.  It has a couple of banks, a library, a museum, alongside three supermarkets.  There are a number of charity shops which are always worth a look in, you never know what treasures you might find; wellington is well worth a wander!
