The Cottage Beyond is the most amazing holiday house for large families and groups and once you come here that will be all your future holidays sorted out because we find our guests want to come back time and time again – they love it so much! Who can blame them when there’s room for 14 people (plus two extra beds), and there’s a private spa hall with a heated pool, a sunken hot tub and a sauna? It’s big and beautiful and it’s all yours and what’s more, it’s so unique! The house was sympathetically extended around what was once a farmworker’s cottage and the result is a very individual home from home with heaps of space, all mod cons and bags of style. We especially wanted it to be very accessible too so most of the ground floor is level and there’s a bedroom with a big en suite wet room that can accommodate wheelchair users no problem.
We could go on and on telling you about what’s in the local area but we find that most of our guests like to stay put because they’re so happy here. We also have an Extras page where we list things like private caterers, florists and entertainment – all jolly useful stuff especially if you’re planning a large group stay to celebrate a special occasion. A lot of people do that – they come here with the chosen few for big birthdays and momentous anniversaries and they have a wonderful time, taking home memories to treasure.
We think one of the things that sets us apart here is the fact that there’s so much to do. We’re not just any old holiday cottage, and yes, it may sound like we’re showing off but we believe that what we have here is unique. It’s our little world, out in the sticks surrounded by spectacular Somerset countryside yet within easy reach of towns and major roads – the A30, A358 and M5 are all within 15 minutes drive, so getting here isn’t a problem. When you get here, when you turn off the road onto the tree lined drive you can almost feel any tension just slip away because we really are far from the madding crowd. The Cottage Beyond sits at the heart of a 160 acre organic farm between Wellington and Wiveliscombe down in the West Country; we don’t all go round in dungarees chomping on carrots, far from it so it’s not old fashioned here – we even have excellent wifi, so if you have people in your group who can’t do without live streaming and social media, no problem!

The young ‘uns will be shrieking with delight on the roundabout, the trampoline or the play fort, the teenagers will be in their element in the covered games area, and you can all just put your feet up and truly relax.
On your doorstep is all that glorious farmland to explore; you’ll find wellies here for you so pull on your boots and get out in the great outdoors, get a hearty dose of clean country air, stretch your legs. There’s barrel loads of fun to be had! Wander down to the bridge and play Pooh Sticks, set off on one of the signposted trails, bring nets and go pond dipping or just sit on the bank and look out for dragonflies darting about, head off to the woods for a picnic and play on the log swings, spot the fairy doors. Go and make friends with the animals who live here – some of them might even join you on your little adventure; our friendly farm dogs and the long haired goats love to follow people around. Look out for deer feeding in the fields and badgers snuffling along the hedgerows; put a feast out on the bird table and then see who comes for dinner – the best place to watch is from the kitchen or the snug and you’ll see a surprising variety, among them woodpeckers, long tailed tits and chaffinches.
