Because we have first-hand experience of caring for someone with additional needs we designed The Cottage Beyond to be as disabled friendly as possible. The ground floor is mostly level, with a ramp used where needed; there are level thresholds through French doors to the garden and we have a spacious ground floor bedroom with an en suite wet room that’s accessible to wheelchair users.

The landscaped garden has hard paths with only the gentlest of slopes, enabling those who are not so able bodied to get around and take in the lush foliage and flowers, the birdsong and the bountiful fresh air. The spa hall has level flooring and there are fixed steps and handrails into the pool and the hot tub.

The thing is, we want everyone to be able to enjoy a stay at The Cottage Beyond. That’s why we’ve taken a holistic approach and ensured a very calm feel throughout the house; there are softly curved walls, ambient lighting and plenty of room; it’s a safe place. Outside the sights and sounds of the garden are a joy to the senses and the organic farmland beyond is yours to explore – all 160 acres of it, with animals to see and always, always rolling hills and big open fields.
